Thany You Duck, it worked a treat, just a helpful hint, on the d/load site be careful to click the right d/load. There are 3 D/load options-2 you pay for and one free DivX Pro. Don’t choose them, but underneath them is Standard DivX Codec(Free). Make sure you choose this one. This worked perfectly with my XP Prof and Media Player 9. Ta!
great help, Duck! ;) P.S: Thanks too dozenbottles
thankx
I have all the codecs including DX50, but G-spot says it needs DX50, still won’t play in Divx player, no video. Any suggestions?
THANX SOOOOOO MUCH!!! thats gr8! its downlading now i really hope it works! :)
Thanks Duck.
Did a google search for DX50 Codec and this thread came up. Worked like a charm.
Tony
DX50 CODEC? DOWNLOAD WHERE? THANDKS
thanks, searched al long time and couldn’t find a player for files with a dx 50 codex, until i came here,
thank a lot!
So what is the deal? Can you get it for free or not?judging by these posts it looks like you have to take spyware or adware with it.
why did this whole problem start, with so many people looking for the dx50 codec?
The free versions of DivX 5.xx available for download from www.divx.com ALL contain third party spyware (Gator)/adware. The reason for this is because they still make money from you as the third parties (the companies like Gator) give some money to the DivX codec creator.
There is no real reason to have any official DivX certified codec installed unless you plan on Ripping & Encoding video content.
If you’re looking for a way to just play DivX 5.xx video content try:
VideoLAN Client (VLC):
www.videolan.org
MPlayer Win32 (version for Windows users):
http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/win32-beta/MPlayer-mingw32-1.0pre5.zip
OR/AND
Install FFDShow (a directshow decoding filter):
http://athos.leffe.dnsalias.com/ffdshow-20040718.exe
Maybe I’m doing something wrong but it seems to me that videoLAN only plays audio.Since it’s called"video"LAN I MUST be doing something wrong.
OK,videoLAN is working for me.I don’t know if it will play the video that needed the dx50 because I gave up and deleted it but I do know that the FFDShow did not help.I’ll get the MPlayer Win32.Won’t hurt to be covered for next time.Anyone know how to split files in half or break them down or is that too complicated to explain?I download some movies but they’re always too big to fit on one disc.
Hey Duck,
u r teh collest advisor I have ever met. Thanks man. :)
The ways of playing back different formats etc assume that the files are real, not fakes. To analyse the validity of a file install GSpot of AVICodec. Here’s GSpot:
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/gspot221.exe
If you load the video, but there’s a n/a under Video or Audio etc, then the file might be dubious.
Also, the latest version of FFDShow:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=53761&package_id=59355&release_id=258937
hey Thanks alot I was looking for this and got the answer from you excellent no probs what so ever. Much appreciated
thanks for the dx50 codec, i’m really need it:)
thanx a lot duck, im downloading DivX now... lets hope it works..
thanx a 1,000,000 times bro
I’d just like to note that ffdshow worked perfectly, no restart, and most importantly no adware or spyware. Thanks!
(ps, the file I downloaded and installed was ffdshow-20040828.exe)
This worked perfectly, thank you, only problem is, i downloaded the film in spanish lol ?:(
