squashing file onto 700mb CDR

I’ve got some movie files that are 794 mb. I could put them onto 800 mb CDRs as my reader/writer will overburn. But my mate’s is an old one and it won’t read 800 mb discs and I want to give him the movies. Is there a way of compressing the files onto a 700 mb CDR please?

I heard the words of God and my problems were solved! Now my nieces can watch a lovely movie about talking animals because God told me to use Nero and my two large files were reduced to fit on two 700mb CDrs. Truly a miracle! Praise be to God.

Hi guys but I think you’re driving in the wrong way.Turn around before you waste some cdr’s.First if you can play an avi file on PC does not mean is going to work the way it is on any player.I order to watch the file on a standalone dvd player find out what is doing your player: play vdc/svcd/DivX/Xvid/Mp3/WMV/etc or only DVD.Not everybody has the same budget so you can not make a g-ral rule. After you find out if your dvd player works with vcd or svcd than check your avi file and convert it to your format vcd or svcd to fit a 700MB/80 min cd.One guy give you a link to a guide how to make the convertion so read it.If your file is an MPEG or just a Xvid or DivX you can convert it to svcd and be sure is going to be bigger than 700 MB.WinAvi is a good converter and most of them can split your file in 700 MB slices so is not big deal to put your file on 2 cd’s.Here is another guide how to convert an avi but use GSpot or AviCodec and find out what kind of avi you have.http://www.afterdawn.com/index-menu.cfm reply
