Either Audio or Video going out of sync over 2 years.

posted in General

Hello,

I am looking for somebody who could help me with a strange issue.

I’ve been rendering movies in Sony Vegas for the past 2 years, always using the same settings.
Divx 505 and Fraunhofer IIs. You can see the full settings in the enclosed JPG.

I am very precise and my videos are edited within miliseconds. They are music videos so timing is what I care for.
Some time ago I noticed that my old videos [approximately 2 years old] have bad audio/video sync.
The audio is played too early. 5 frames [0,2 seconds] before the time it should play judging from original edit.

To make things even more strange, this problem affects only 3 of my videos. There are other videos which have been rendered with exactly the same settings, but they keep the audio/video in sync.

How is it possible that a video, that was produced well, and used to play well, now after some time behaves differently?
If I did not make any modifications, and I did not, the files were just sitting on the hard drive - then what caused the audio track to shift in relation to video track? reply

Have you changed players or player settings recently?

This could cause some problems. reply

No, that’s not it.

It’s not the case that the relation in time between audio and video differs in various players and codecs.

The audio / video tracks are changed for ever.
It’s like literally tearing apart one side of your trousers and then sewing it back in different place.

I say so, because I load these movies into Vegas, and the audio graph is 5 frames before the video graph.

here, have a look at this JPG

Are you certain, none of your friends messed with the video as a prank?

Possibly, you made a slight error when you last edited the video, or there’s a problem with how you saved it. Or WHEN you moved it. reply

I have no friends. I make no errors.
The only word that is intriguing is WHEN.
What do you mean ? What importance/influence does time have on Divx video files? reply
