Converting MP4 to MP43 or Divx3.xx or Divx4.xx or 3IVX

posted in File Types

I have a LG DP542H DVD Player. It has a USB port too. I have a few VIDEOS that are in MP4 Video format on my PC.

I have copied these films to the USB Stick (16Gig), I have Synced them to the USB, I converted them to AVI. I converted them to DivX and they just are not recognised or played by the LG DVD player.

It transpires that the Unit accepts the following formats:
DIVX3.xx, DIVX4.xx, DIVX5.xx, DIVX6.xx (Standard playback only), MP43, 3IVX ( these are notes from LG technical).

Can anyone please tell me how to convert MP4 to any of the above formats? or is there a converter software that does the conversion?

Many Thanks in advance.

The filename can not have more than 20 characters. Hope this helps.

Also The 3ivX format is an alternative video compression format which allows MPEG-4 compression in APPLE QuickTime files (.movextension), the other divx with numbers is the more recent codec used. I believe the others are just open source builds. AVI even had the simple trick of changing its extension to divx and would still play on most decent players (vlc, MPC) this may work on your - usb dvd player reply
