MOst of these files are actually .mkv, they are encoded with a matroska codec. This codec isnt standard with most windows players, but it is built into the VLC player. THe MKV extension isnt shown generally by windows without hunting for it, so you go looking for the last abreviation, .fov, which doesnt get your file played ;)

Most matroska codec packs are generally incomplete ( since its open source, it gets updated by pretty much everyone that uses it) thats why VLC works, changes made to the codecs must be compatible with the vlc player, so thats your best bet for playback.

I simply renamed the fov files .avi and I could see Downton Series perfectly well on my portable dvd player. Worth a try if it helps anyone!!! reply

I solved the problem by using “Freemake” to convert it just re did it in mp4 worked and no need to use up bandwidth...... This is a work around solution but it works so I can still download rest of the series I want. (Broadchurch 1x02 HDTV x264-FoV) EZTV reply
