Hello.

I have Divx 5 installe.d Now, when I try to play any .avi file, WMP will crash. I have tried the same with Media Player Classic and did not work.

WMPLAYER executed an invalid instruction in

My WMP 11 (on VISTA) crashed if I tried to play AVI files.

solution:
Uninstalled ALL codecs,players I could find in My programs.

Renamed:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Media_old

Rebooted machine.

Tried to play AVI file, since no codec was installed I had no video.
-> Reinstalled DIVX,XVID,AC3.

Seems to be working again.

Funny thing is I tried all of the above one by one without result.
Uninstalling ALL player/codec related stuff fixed it. reply
