VCD not playing

hey guys, question:

im trying to play a vcd on my computer but windows media player wont play it, it keeps saying that it doesnt have the necessary codec... ive never had this problem before and i tried reinstalling most if not all of the codecs i do have, but it still doesnt work. a little help?

thanks in advance reply

Could it be a svcd instead of a vcd? Then it’d be mpeg-2 instead of mpeg-1. You’d want to use videolan, media player classic, or the elecard mpeg-2 decoder. reply

Hi ..
i am having exactly the same problem. It is VCD (mpeg-1) .. not playing in media player, real player or nero player.
it does play in the regular dvd player
i tried to convert it to real format usign “Excellence Real Converter” - and the resultant rm file plays okay.
Strange puzzle.
Any suggestions?
