I have tried a lot to get my movies created with the Samsung VP-X110L being played in Quicktime. But I only get sound, no film! Can anybody help me in this? I am using Mac OSX Tiger
Bridget, If you read through some of the previous posts in this thread you will find several fixes for various problems. My problem was similar to yours as I would get sound and only a white screen. I tried everything I could find and the only thing I got to work was this application [free download] at http://www.fringa.net/downloads/avi2DivX.jar It will convert your avi files with SEDG codec that is produced by your camera to avi files with DivX code that should work in Quicktime on your Mac running tiger. I get reply notification on this thread so if you have questions simply post them here. Good Luck. Z

egadgetguy Guest | Thanks for the tip on the CDROM - Who’d a thunk it’d be as easy as “install the included driver”
BTW. The digital video on the card {I have the Samsung SC-D365} is 720x480/30fps. and it’s really good looking video.
compares to DVD SP video IMHO. egadgetguy

Bridget Guest | Hi MacZulu, thanks for your reply. I have tried to get to the download Site, but Safari gives me the message that it can’t find the site... I have tried it many times, but I do not get the site where I can download the code.... so I still feel very helpless in this issue

MacZuLu Guest | Bridget, I tried also, the site must have closed down. It is not SEDG codec that I can get you. What I found and that works great for me is a small application that converts your .avi video files to .DivX files, actually it makes a copy of them. It’s a breeze to use, it takes a little time but considering you now get to watch your videos it’s worth it. I have the SC -X105L that this guy savino is writing about. Anyone interested in this .avi to DivX converter application can e-mail me a cribis2@mac.com. Good Luck and Happy Shooting, Z

So, what happen is that on my MACOS I can’t watch movies but only hear the audio. I have tried to download some application from http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/ but it seems a labirinth without way out!
Someone could help me, please?

DTedford Guest | Guys,
I need someone to break stuff down for me here. You guys are clearly operating at a higher level of expertise than I.
I want to run a video in my Windows media player. I get sound, but the video will not play due to a SEDG codec error. I have tried a bunch of stuff, but just can’t get it to work. Please help.
Further to that, the audio I hear is timed right but the pitch of the speaker sounds high as if he were a chipmunk. Any ideals.
Thanks a bunch | |

Ami-chan Guest | I’m having issues with .avis from a Samsung as well. Trying to edit them in Windows Movie Maker.
The thing with this is. I downloaded and installed the SEDG codec so that I could play them in WMP and they play FINE, yet for some reason when I try to import them into WMM (I have version 2.1.4026.0 not sure if that makes any difference or not...) it tells me: The file C:\Document...ids1.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.
But I already installed the codec. I tried reinstalling it. It still tries to download the codec. I try turning the 'auto-install codec' option off, then it tells me off because the option is turned off so it couldn’t install the codec. I do NOT understand.

Ami-chan Guest | Oh, and to make things better. My friend has the exact same version of WMM on her computer, or so it seems, and has borrowed my Samsung camera, filmed, watched and edited video on her computer using WMM, after installing the same codec which I use because I sent it to her, and it operates fine. So I am left to scratch my head in complete confusion.

lazyshooter Guest | Hey Guys,
I’ve been having a terrible time playing SCX105L avi files on my Mac / Apple / G4 / OS X / OS 10.3.9. Sound plays but no video. I wrote Samsung. Here’s what they had to say. I haven’t tried it yet because I’m at work, but it sounds like good advice.
SAMSUNG WROTE:
Sorry about the trouble your running into.
If the customer is using the SCX105L or SCM105S with a Mac operating system, it may occur that the video portion is missing when movies are viewed on the Mac; the customer will only get audio, while the video remains blank white. To correct this, use the following procedure.
- Go into the primary hard drive, then into the Library folder, then QuickTime.
- In this folder, look for files named “DivXSamsung.component” and “SamsungVDig.component”.
- Remove these files by dragging them onto the trash can icon on the dock (the row of icons along the bottom of the screen).
- Restart the computer.
- Reinstall the Image Mixer software.
- Restart the computer again, after which the issue will be resolved.

MacZulu Guest | Lazyshooter, I have the same Camera and experienced the exact same symptoms on a similar mac system with Quick Time. White Screen with audio. I jumped through so many hoops trying to resolve this frustrating issue. I finally came across a simple application that will convert your .avi files to DivX, please see the following quote from a previous post. If you are interested in this app let me know at the enclosed email address. Goodluck, MacZulu

Hey Guys,
That “avi2DivX.jar” app works pretty well. I convert it with the app and it plays pretty darned good on my mac. There’s only one problem. After converting the files, I’m getting these random, tiny triangles on the footage. Does anybody have any clues abou this?

Hey L.S.,
I’ve encountered the same” flickering triangle” problem after the conversion; I 've tried using hex-editor to do the job but the same problem occurred again.
Can anyone solve this problem for us?
Many Thanks!

TP Guest | HEY GUYS,
I’ve tried the “avi2DivX.jar” converted files with VLC, they play good with no noise or flickering(Which occurred in the case with Quicktime or DivX Player).
That sounds good if one just need to playback these footages.
Whatif I’d like to do some editing?
