I downloaded the master ProResHQ file of a particular video onto my Vista Business machine and I’m having issues viewing it. Neither Quicktime nor VLC appears to know what to do with it. Quicktime returns “Error-2048, couldn’t open the file because it is not a file that QuickTime understands” and VLC does nothing. I’ve even downloaded it twice just to make sure the errors weren’t a result of a corrupted file and still no dice. I’ve already tried downloading the ProRes Decoder, but apparently Apple has already integrated it into newer versions of QuickTime. Can anyone recommend a viewer or converter that will handle this file type?
