Downloaded avi file from ares (aresgalaxy.com)
Cannot get anythig other than its own viewer/player to display it.Tried to use Super dvd creator (and others) to convert to dvd. But says “Not supported media format.You need to install some codec.Renderfile (wfile).


Please. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to run a movie but it says i need a FOURCC codec called a xvid but i cant find a place to download the codec. Where do i find this? went to the xvid site and tries to download the latest codec in zip form but when i did they all came up as documents and not a single install file was there.
What should i do?

You got the xvid source code from www.xvid.org. It’s useless unless you’re a programmer. Get the binaries from http://www.koepi.org instead.

Yeh, I have a file that’s called “AVI DIVX” and it wont play on anything. So i tried to convert it and when i did that it said it wasnt a valid format so i should decode or encode and i tried that but it said i need a render (wFile). Can anyone help me with this?

nothing at all will play on ares so i have to play them on WMP but i still cant play videos on that if anyone knows y let me know

To open all files on Ares you need to download kitelite it will convert everything for you.

Sorry not kite lite its k-lite codec.

had the same problem with superdvdcreator. Kept giving me an error called renderfile(wfile) not supported format. I tried some different codecs that I downloaded and finally got one from Cole2Kmedia off of limewire. It works now so give it a try.

i ahve a file that it says is in mpeg2 format on the cd... it just wont play on the comp... works fine on my dvd player on the tv!!!

i have had the same problem for a while and i would like to know exactly which codecs i need to convert a wfile to dvd using superdvdcreator 8.5

ok everyone with this problem to fix it is so simple it was hard to figure out...all you have to do is change the file name and add (.avi) to the end and your set.
