Ok. Here’s the deal. My old computer died so I replaced it with a “new” one (new to me). This one came with Windos XP Business on it. I installed a few programs and games and it was going swimmingly. About 2 weeks after getting my DSL finally going on it it “crashed” according to my oldest son. He says no one was using in but it played the turning off music, shut down, came back on, and went off again. Then he says that it instructed him to use the restore disc so he did. All of this was while I was at work. So....I reinstalled the programs I had on there at the time of the crash but Zoo Tycoon wouldn’t install. Now it’s installed but it says that the Playback of the Indeo codec isn’t working. It worked perfectly a couple of days ago so is that something that was installed on my computer when I bought it? When I try to play the game it freezes and when I ctl/alt/delete the Windows manager pops up and says that the game is not responding but that Indeo Video is running. Does this mean that I have to buy the download? I just went to http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/952p1.html to install it but that didn’t seem to work. Is there another place I need to try?

I have the game risk 2 but when i’m tryin' to open it it says that risk 2 has occured a problem and needs to close, what is the problem of tha?? am i missing a codec?? and if i do where can i get it??

HELP! I have a strange video file from a security camera system that I need to analyze in FCP — slow-down, speed-up, go frame by frame, etc. — for a court case. The file won’t play on my mac, and nothing seems to help me convert it.

It is a .avi using the video compression format Indeo video 5.

I tried playing it on my G5 with FCP 4.5 HD and QT 6.5.2, and I tried on my new iMac with FCP 5.1.2 and QT 7.1.3.

It plays fine using Microsoft Windows on my old Dell PC that my wife uses at home! I tried to play the video on her PC and use a screen capture program called SnagIt and tried another called ScreenRecorder to grab the video, but neither of those worked either.

Any suggestions?
