Hi guys, I found out that my .avi files need vp62 code, but On2.com doesn’t support any download.
Is there anyone knows where I can get it??!!
Thanks a million~!! =)

Looks like on2 went commercial with their codec (like elecard). You might still find some old version lying around by googling for vp6_vfw_codec.exe. Here’s one hit

Actually they do have a free download, its just not that easy to find. Go to - http://www.on2.com then on the main page menu choose: PRODUCTS, then choose: TRUECAST MEDIA PLAYBACK/STREAMING, then choose either: FREE VP6 DECODER FOR WINDOWS or FREE TRUECAST PLAYER DOWNLOAD.
Search results: ON2, VP6, VP7, VP62, video codec

Thank you guys for helping me out!!
but now I have another problem~~~

I tried to install the vp6_Decoder but it tells me:

iKernel.exe could not be launch.
Error loading type library/DLL

I already tried so many ways of fixing it, but it still won’t work~!! >

dudes just download K-Lite Codec Pack from www.free-codecs.com or .net

it has all what u need even the VP62 Encoder

P.S.: I rate VP62 higher than DivX or XviD :-))

THANK you very much..
I almost removed one LedZep live concert in conatiner mkv format, because it failed to render the video. Installing Matroska Pack Full also, still unable to play the video, but after reading this forum/thread, i download vp6 codec, voila !! the video run smoothly.

Nice info. I hated it when I couldn’t play my Japan Gravure files. Now, by downloading VP6, everything works great. Now I can obsess over japanese models without any stress. Thanks!

On2 doesn’t distribute the VP6 decoder anymore, but Bjarne has it hosted on the site.
