Hi I have a Phillips DVD player 6 months old and it will not play MP4’s. The audio comes clear but there is no video. I contacted Phillips about this problem and they said there are no MP4 codecs available for the player. I was wondering if anyone ran into this problem. Where can I download a mp4 codec for my dvd player. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Well, In my personal opinion that your DVD without the mp4 decoder and it need you update the drive program for your DVD , but as the Philip said that there is no mp4 decoder and you can not use it to play mp4 format ,I suggest you use some converter to covnert the mp4 format to other format and it will be fine !
there is no decoder in the phillips player. you can not update it yourself. it is to be updated by the technician replacing the chipset. it is better to by a local made players which can read all the format, cost arroung 1800.
I have a similar problem .mp4 files from sony DVD handycam copied in a DVD plays but without any audio in my Philips DVD player bought in 2005-06. I will try playing those files in other DVD player which supports .mp4 to know the brand / model of my next DVD player, if it plays successfully.
I was wondering if there’s a way to modify the chipset of a DVD player or what it has recorded in it, assuming it uses some kind of JAVA applet. Is there any kind of mapping or so? Can I port the codecs that VLC uses and “upgrade” the device. I have a Miray DVM-L79 that only recognizes AVI, but I also have a bunch of files in .FLV, .OGM, and .MP4 format, which would be a real pain in the a.. to change to avi. I thak for any kind of information that could prevent me from opening the DVD player.
