Hi, please can you help me I have made a film in Premier and it is an avi file, but when I go to burn it in nero the cd only has folders on it and no movie, I have used 2 cd’s now and am very confused, please help me. thank you T
ok taitai was right, just change the file name from avi to mpg and it works!!! finally, ive been looking forever for a solution!!!
I had trouble importing mpeg-2 video from a capture
device - I converted it with DivX Converter, and
changed the file extension to .mpg
Then it opened just fine
I also think I’m using the Xvid Codec
FYI:
I could not import .avi with the version 6.0 but after downloading and installing M-JPEG Codec v3.0.0.9 from (http://www.morgan-multimedia.com/technicalsV3.htm)I have no problems anymore!
Thanks a lot guys!
I use premiere pro, Taitai’s solution works for me! thanks dude!!
kaneb, wicked... just found this link in google after 3hrs of hell trying to configure my premier
thanks
None of these have worked for me, I have no idea what a codec is. I’m running Premiere CS3. Any suggestions?

That actually worked for me, I downloaded this program and it told me what none other could, I was missing the div3 codec, and after some searching I found the divx, now I was able to open it with this one but not in adobe premier 7.0, after that I did “save as avi” and I was able to import the video
Thanks a lot!
Note: none of the other methods worked for me
i have a canon sx 100 is. and kaneb’s trick saved my life..thanks
kaneb- You are god. You just saved my English Project.
kaneb - You don’t even know how much you just saved my project.
If you’re still having problems I got my import to work just fine by going to import > changing the file from a .avi to a .mpeg click “ok” for the error and open and it works.
Kaneb’s solution did not work for me as he wrote it but I changed the file type to mpeg and it worked great! Kaneb - thanks for the Idea! Canon G9 1024x768 avi video.
even easier, in finder, open ur movie in quicktime and click save as, and i will automatically save it as a mov file, now u can import it.
