ALimaFan Guest | I have the JVE Evario MC-500 also. This thread has been very helpful. And by changing the file extension, my audio is carried over (upon playback). I’ll check it within Premiere and Vegas now...
Thayt’s the crappy part about these straight to DVD/tapeless camcorders. They are nice theoretically, but a PAIN when editing.

In cyberlink powerdirector everything work but i cannot click on produce to convert the movie in .avi or what ever,i am using the full pack, dvd solution, the one that comes with the camera...but no way the .mod file is seen, also when i want to open a video file the list gives me different extension but not the .mod one!offcourse the one i need !
Please helllp!!!as soon as i got any answer i will share the solution with the whole word!thanks guys.

dan help Guest | Hi guys. go back and read the beginning of this thread, it’ll explain the options again. cyberlink power director is perfect for converting the mod files to avi and mpg and divx and mp4. if you install the trial version of this program and then install vegas, vegas will open the file (now knowing the extension root) and will be editable. couldn’t be easier. I have processed 2 hrs of video (minimal editing) in three hrs. rendering took 9 hrs. haha the point is; cyberlink is the one for mod files.

I used same settings as project after creating a video file and followed the directions. The audio is present when played on the computer from the exsisting file. Thanks

TF Guest | Hi folks. Had similar distress after I got the JPG MG70E. My old Power Director could show the .mod files...but no sound. No other video program worked.
Then I noticed, that the software included in the camera packet had installed another Power Director: NE express. This program playes the .mod files including sound. Thanks for your input, it was a support during the initial panic ;-)

Toby Guest | Is there a way to mass-convert the file extensions from .mod to .mpg?
Or, rather, is there a codec or utility that will make the common media players (windows mp, etc...) recognize .mod files?
I need to be able to play back the video files in Dartfish, a comparative video utility, which I think uses wmp as the video player.
Thanks.

QursedOne Guest | Hi all! Solved the MOD problem! Try program called WinAviVideoConverter!!! it’s really nice little program and it can convert everything you want! Output .mpg files works fine in my ulead videostudio 9 and pinnacle studio 9. you can download it straight from here — -> http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/WinAVIVideoConverter/download/win95/rd.shtml?http://www.winavi.com/WinAVI_Video_Converter.exe
cheers!

QursedOne Guest | In Version 7.x try to remove msg with these->
Name: — — — — — — — —
Code: — — — — — — — —
or
Name: — — — — — — -
Code: — — — — — — -
I’m not taking responsibility for any of this when using these usernames and codes!!!
My copy runs just fine without no msg in the middle...

Ron Guest | Allow me to put in my 10cents worth.
My problem was for .MOD files to be read in Studio 9. I changed the extension to .MPG, and they were instantly OK, but no sound.
I entered the Pinnacle site, paid €8.49, and got the keys to unlock Dolby sound.
Result DVD made with full stereo sound and great picture.

Dirtbag Guest | well this camera was kind of a let down with the hassle to get the footage able to work with other editing packages...
As i went through all the problems that were mentioned above.. as i thought the reason for the camera was that the footage was already digital in .mpg format and you can just open in editing package..
the way it is now you still need to convert to a working format to use on the editing application you use..
i guess you have to use the software that came with it to convert and you should not have problems..
for now i installed the Cyberlink PowerDirector standalone.. not the one that came with the package..
anyways i was able to import the .MOD files and converted them to .mpeg2 and .wmv and also DV-AVI format so far as those are the ones i tested and they worked..
so as far a i can tell the cyberlink is the ticket for now as the time to convert is very quick also..

frustrated sid Guest | Hi all, I’ve been following this thread closely, but have been unsuccessful in all my tries. I have the panasonic sv-av100. I try renaming my mod to mpg but no matter what program I use (dvdsanta, powerdirector, winavi, etc.)when I convert to dvd I get a video_ts folder and an empty audio_ts folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sid
