temp Guest | I had the same problem, WMP 10 stopped playing mpeg files, and even upgrading to WMP 11 still had the same problem (all the files played fine before) and I solved it by uninstalling Samsung PC Studio software which I had installed to put some music on my D900.
I think the Samsung software had installed some extra codecs or filters which had confused media player.
I uninstalled the Samsung PC Suite and everything was OK

Entree Rep: 0 Joined: 16 Jan 2007 Posts: 1 OFFLINE | I HAD the same problem (Win Media Player stopped playing mpeg and mpg files). MY SOLUTION.......uninstall Samsung PC Studio 3 (for mobile phone) and all things started working again.

i’m in the same boat too, media player does just about anything but wont play any type of vido files no mater format or codec required, and if that is not enough no other player would play video file either
Media player 10 stoped working about 2 months ago, since then i tried everything to make it work again, from reinstalling windows several times in a raw, to repartitioning the drive couple of times (cause first time still didn’t work) and now i just dont kown what to do, am almost ready to go and buy a new drive... any help would be really appreciated

kuvittelija Guest | I had the same problem, Windows media player 11, all videos played with sound only, black picture. I spent one whole day doing trying to fix it, going crazy with it. VLC-player played every video ok. Like did media player classic and real player. And quick time alternative. I DID “clean” my computer with couple of programs couple of days ago... and I really think that must be what caused this mess.
I used RegSeeker and overcleaned I think. ONLY thing that fixed my video issue was the Windows XP System Restore feature. Hopefully I had a restore point 4 made 4 days earlier. That fixed everything! Whoa I am happy now..
So guys, TRY the windows restore! AND do NOT do experiments with register cleaner software if you’re not absolutely sure you know what you do.
Windows media player 11 with ffdshow and VLC player is pretty much one needs, and remember you can put skins to VLC to get away from that 80’s look
Hope someone else gets help from this restore thingy also.

stu aka karnage Guest | I recently couldnt play mpg’s I could play divx, mp3’s some avi’s and, and this affected all major players. WMP from 9 right through to 11 and even the classic number 2. Real player, Nero player. All of them.
I tried everything from codecs to Video drivers, sound drivers, directshow, directx, absolutely everything. I was contemplating a format, when i happened upon this forum and TAVBIY suggested that his solution was to remove the samsung phone manipulation software(bundled with D900). Couldn’t see it working but I gave it a go and hey presto they all now play properly. This problem was a shlaaaag and my opinion of samsung wasn’t very high before. Now I really dont like any of their products. I thought i would post this because it is a strange solution to the problem which people may not contemplate. Good luck to any with the same problem.
