i’ve got a bunch of these wierdo avi files encoded with WMV3 and i want to rip them to something better like divx or xvid. my main reason is because one of the files is a little out of sync and choppy at certain parts. i was planning on using a video fixer on it, but nothing is compatible with WMV3 encoded avi files(who friggin encoded these things damn) i’ve tried using vdub and vdubmod to save them with divx or xvid compression and this is how it went:
i had ffdshow installed and when i tried to open one of these files with vdub it gave me an error, i had to go to microsoft and install the wmv9 codec before vdub would open the file(which is wierd cuz i could watch it just fine with winamp, wmp, etc.). now i want to take the file and save it with a divx compression, but when i got to video — > compression it doenst show my divx or xvid codecs in the list of codecs that i can use, which isn’t right because i have ffdshow installed. anybody know what the problem is?
i’d also appreciate any advice on what settings i should use when saving the file so that i dont loose any quality. thanx alot
