The steps are all nice and well until you get to the $winnt$.inf file which I don’t have in my windows32 file in vista.

King Of The N00bs Guest | I have vista home basUck its a clean install I think all this carry on only works for xp upgrades.Ive done everything on here and 50 other places and no voice in chat.Ive done it all and no good so your solution seem to be only for a specific group of users NOT every vista user.

Delectable Daisy Guest | I’ve tried all of the suggested options - I’ve downloaded this codec more times than I care to recall. But I still have no access to voice chat on Yahoo. I have followed every instruction, I have ploughed through System32, renamed previous files, added new codecs, tried the hardware download as suggested on Yhelp... Nothing works!
My is brand new and running on Vista Home Basic. Why does the new stuff always cause more problems than the old? I’ve never had this kind of trouble finding and adding codecs when downloading torrents.
Can anyone really help?

Craig Guest | I have Windows Vista and it is looking for the same drive as mentioned above, however, there is no $winnt$inf at all. I have looked in the system 32 folder and I believe Windows Vista is different. Anyone else having issues with that for yahoo chat?

shelley Guest | For Windows Vista users... follow these steps but go to the “Windows.old” folder / System32 and you will find everything else there!!
quote=Faizi]DSP Group TrueSpeech Audio Codec 1.1.1.5
http://www.codec-download.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&lid=505&ttitle=DSP_Group_TrueSpeech_Audio_Codec_1.1.1.5
1. Extract tssoft32.acm into your C:/Windows/System32 folder, rename your old tssoft32.acm to tssoft32OLD.acm and rename the new unzipped file tssoft32[Codec-Download.de].acm to tssoft32.acm .
2. In Control Panel, go to Add Hardware.
3. Click Next and after it searches choose 'Yes, I have already connected
the hardware'. Click Next.
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the 'Installed harware' list and choose
'Add a new hardware device'. Click Next.
5. Choose 'Install the hardware that I manually select from a list
(Advanced)'. Click Next.
6. Choose ' Sound, video and game controllers' from the 'Common hardware
types' list. Click Next.
7. Click on the 'Have Disk' button.
8. Click 'Browse'
9. Navigate to the 'C:/Windows/System32' folder
10. Choose '$winnt$.inf'. Click Ok.
11. Click 'Continue Anyway' if you get a warning box.
12. Select 'DSP Group TrueSpeech™ Audio CODEC from the list. Click Next.
13. Click Next again to install.
14. Restart if necessary.

Installation of TrueSpeech Codec for WMP 11 on Windows Vista
TrueSpeech shipped with prior versions of WMP from Win95 through WinXP. Stripping out the old codec files from WinXP and using them in Vista seems to work.
Option 1
The DSP codec can be installed on Vista using the following procedure:
1. Acquire tssoft32.acm and tsd32.dll (can be easily found by searching for them online)
2. Open the Windows\System32 directory
3. If tssoft32.acm is present, rename it tssoft32_old.acm. Either way, proceed to the next step
4. Place tssoft32.acm and tsd32.dll into the Windows\System32 directory
5. Create the following registry entry:
a. Folder (you may need to create some of these folders: KEY_CURRENT_CONFIG>Software\Microsoft\windows\CurrentVersion\Drivers32\msacm.trspch
b. Set REG_SZ value to: tssoft32.acm
c. No need to reboot, just close regedit
6. You can verify that the codec installed correctly by going to WMP 11\Help and clicking on “Technical Support Information”. A webpage will open listing all the codecs installed. If tssoft32.acm is listed, you’re set!
7. Fire everybody involved with not helping you solve this problem!
Option 2
Alternatively, you can go to http://www.dspg.com/technology/players/tsply95.zip and save the file to your hard-drive. Then, install the TrueSpeech Player. It’s for Windows 95, but will work on Vista…albeit a pain to use.

Geloe777 Guest | Finally I found this: http://www.savefile.com/files/520178
Download this file, unzip it and run the installation programm. The DSP Truespeech Audiocodec is installed on Vista. It’s easy and it worked fine for me.
