Convert MKV to DVD: problem with subtitles

posted in Subtitles, viewed 2296 times

My problem:
- I have downloaded a bunch of Operas in MKV, most of them with subtitles (critical to understand what is going on...).
- I can watch them in my computer using VLC - but the sound quality is poor.
- I want to watch the Operas in my living room using a DVD / Home Cinema sound equipment.
- I have tried ConverXtoDVD to get regular DVDs. Everything was OK except that subtitles come out very big & totally unreadable. I fiddled with the subtitles options a lot bu get always EXACTLY the same subtitles results...
- I have tried Freemake Video Converter (a free program)which
managed to produce a DVD with subtitles. A snag: the subtitles converted are shown too much to the bottom & right side of the images and you lose part of it (it becomes bearably readable). Unfortunately you cannot change that in options...

I would like to make the conversion to DVD, with subtitles, in one pass - as I have quite a lot of files to handle... Freemake Video Converter “proves” it can be done - only the program needs still some fine tuning..

I wonder if there is a program out there that can do this in one pass... If not possible, I am reluctantly willing to consider alternatives.. reply
