Movie Maker Codec for AVI

Hi everybody, Congratulations. I had this problem with movie maker and said to me this error:

The file E:\alefba\AVSEQ01.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

But I have solved it, you want to know how? ok. read below:

1-open movie maker
2-go to the tools — >optins menu.
3-go to the compatibility at the above of window.
4- at the filter box, check the “ffdshow mpeg-4 video decoder”

5- push “ok” bottom.
6-import your .avi video and enjoy it.

WTF??!!Mine doesn’t have compatibility on the options menu!!!

i went to compatability and mine only has one bow that you could click and that was LEAD mcmp... im not sure what that means or what i should do... im not very computer savy.
please help

You have to download the ffdshow mpeg-4 video decoder from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm if it doesn’t work.

You have to download ffdshow-rev..... and then you have to check its box on options

I’ve tired everything and it doesnt work
I kno what codec to download n did that.
Then I restarted my movies maker program but it still wont appear in the compatibility folder....

what do i do???

Thanks a lot, it solved my problem on this issue!!! iranian people rock...eheh

When I imported this game called “Toontown” video, it turned all weird. The colors were bad and it wasn’t anything like it. I want to continue to make videos but with the way its colored I cant make any. By the way, I listened to what you said about the Tools > Options > ffdshow Video Recorder thing.

Please help!
