Philips Go Gear Video/Audio player supports WMV but it won't play

I have this video/audio player here:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?session=20071211215847_222.153.4.45&scy=NZ&slg=ENG&ctn=SA3125%2F97&submit.x=20&submit.y=9

On the back of my player it says it “plays Windows Media” but when i copy a wmv video or audio file onto the device, it won’t play.

I always have to use the Converter software to convert WMV to .SMV(Sigmatel motion video), but it takes 30 minutes to convert a 12 minute video.

I thought if an audio/Video player says it “plays windows media” means it can play this without converting it? reply

i got a gogear aswell but mine was second hand so i didnt get the cd 4 the software do u no were i might b able 2 download this software??? reply

My go gear loads the video fine but when I go to the video selection on the main screen and select it, it says “no videos found” aaarrrrggg! Very agravating. It will play the videos through my computer but doesn’t even list them on the unit itself. Guess you have to pay more than $40 to get a decent multi media player. Photos and music are ok tho. reply

The player I have, the one with the 3” screen plays video great. The included documents told me that it plays video at a specific size and frame rate. Using Windows Media Encoder 9, the same free software I use to convert videos for my daughters Disney MixMax, I can convert an entire movie in about 40 minutes. If anyone runs across this response and want the configuration file that works I can email it to them for the best video playback results. reply

Download: Any Video Converter http://www.filehippo.com/download_any_video_converter/

Convert video to Windows Media Video 9 (WMV)
Video bit rate: 4096
Width: 220
Height: 176

Works like a glove. reply

Small correction.
If you have video lag, you need to convert the frame size to the lowest as possible, like 160x112.
Video Bitrate is not too relevant, i tested it 5000 and works great. reply

I have a 30GB philips gogear and when you go to youtube and click on download clip, i put it under audio and mp3 format and everything but when I send it to WMP and then sync to player, it says on device but then when I click the playlist I sent it to, it says “no playlist”. Does anyone else know another way about getting them on? My sister can do it just fine on her Zune :( Thanks, Jessica reply
