I have a toshiba satellite laptop with a s-video port in the back. i went to a shop that told me all i needed was a cable to run from pc to tv. wrong again. i have checked out a few things through toshiba help, and have followed all the directions. still nothing. the only thing i can think of is that i bought the laptop in the US, and i live in norway. the s-video converts to a scart cable. i am able to get sound from the tv to the laptop, but nothing the outher way around. i have run out of ideas, and have a limited knowledge of this stuff. im a mechanic, i fix junk heaps to run a little longer. this stuff gives me a migrane. any help will apreciated.
Europe and North America have different standards for television. North America uses NTSC and Europe uses PAL (a few odd places like France use SECAM).
When you’re trying to display video on your television right click anywhere on your desktop, click properties, look under settings, and click advanced. You should have a display tab somewhere. Make sure the settings (PAL or NTSC) are set properly.
i tried to change the settings on the laptop. it didnt work. i read something that i might need a piece of equipment that changes the signal from pc to tv. outher things i read say just plug in, change settings and go. the tv is an older one, but has the scart cable in back. does it make a diffrence if its a digetal tv or not?
