hey Guys packed data crc error is caused bcoz of damaged data in an archieve however you can keep damaged files while extracting by clicking check box “keep broken files” the damaged files will be however extracted but there is no gaurantee of their working especially in games softwares which are splitted however winrar has inbuilt repair feature but that also works in certain cases as that of movies You can also download winrar file repairing tools which mostly use winrar technology to repair the files however i havent tried many but u can download as many as their are available may be some will do the trick for u reply

i had this problem, what i did is that i started unpacking, and opened the avi. file as fast as i could in VLC, then it want to repair, press repair. then it works although the errors!!1 cheers!

This actually worked for me. Really pretty simple:
1. Install VLC
Here’s the link:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
2. Start to unrar (extract) AVI files.
3. As the files are extracting, open the started AVI
file with VLC. When VLC is open it will determine the
AVI file is corrupted and ask you if you want to
repair. Say yes and the full AVI file will be built.
The whole repair process will take a minute or so.

I was able to play the completed AVI file with no problem with Windows Media Player. I then made DVD files with “ConvertX to DVD” and then burned with Nero.

Just when I thought the AVI Winrar files were too corrupt to work, this solution worked like a charm.

Thanks for the tip. reply

I had a 14-part file in .rar which was giving the Packed data CRC failed error on 3 of the parts. Once I had identified which parts were broken, using the error messages from the first unpack attempt, I then went to each of those parts in turn and right-click > Open With > WinRAR. Once WinRAR is operating on this file, go to Tools > Repair archive, and from there it is pretty much automatic. It will create a new file with the prefix “fixed”; rename the original file with prefix “old” (just in case you need it again) and rename the new file to remove “fixed”. Once you have done this to all broken parts, you should be good to go. reply

That error may also come up when you haven’t simply downloaded the torrent to 100% Keep the files in the same directory and start torrent download again adn torrent client will count how much is left if it so.. at least utorrent does it.

This is an exact problem and the only way to fix these errors is to use utorrent and force a recheck on the torrent. When it rechecks the torrent, it will realize there are bits missing from the files... then it will download those chunks and wa-la working rar files!!! reply

I had this problem with all torrrents that came in multipart rar files. I am using 7-Zip to extract. Not knowing much about multipart rar’s I right clicked on the first file aaaaa.r00 and selected extract. It seemed to clearly be connecting all the parts as it created a very large file, but then came up CRC error.
Finnally I noticed the smaller file at the bottom of the list, aaaaa.rar, so I used 7-Zip to extract that. It seemingly went through the same procedure, but this time, no error and the resultant avi plays fine.
So for me it was a problem of not knowing the correct procedure, though I blame 7-Zip for being rather unhelpful. reply

repair winrar archive has all required facilities for resolving out problems with corrupted or lost .rar files. It doesn’t modify archive data after repairing, because it uses copies of rar data. Software works under all system requirements, allowing to view the results of working.

I feel for ya dude now you have to ask ysoruelf, how much is the data worth', because you will pay thru the nose for a data recovery service to get that data I think the Unformat command went out with DOS reply
