error downloading codec message when trying to play certain movies on windows media player

When i try t play certain movies on my media player I get a message sayin error downloading codec and also i get a scrolling message saying my evaluation period has expired please register your windows media player at moonlight.co.il. i don’t know what all of this means. It worked just fine before. It will show the movie but can’t hear any sound, and that’s only on certian ones, Can you help?

I can’t say for the error downloading codec. Your best bet is to feed the file into gspot and find out which codec is missing. As for the moonlight message it means your mpeg-2 decoder trial has expired. I would get videolan or media player classic to play mpeg-2 files instead. They’re both free.
