Computer freezes on playing video files

My problem is similar, but happens MORE using IE..Especially as soon as the third window shows like when downloading...but also on video viewing...I have 3 of the same laptop, and only ONE of them have this problem,...so I swapped out the memory, Hard Drive, all the drivers, disabled acceleration, laptop doesn’t seem to be hot, completely dismantled it and cleaned it, matched all the settings with another laptop without the problem and STILL have the same problem...For instance...I open IE browse say FLASH to Download...I try to DL and when the 2 windows pop up, one to save or run, and the other whatever...the puter freezes...I can go to firefox and do the DL but even with Firefox if I run video and another screen pops up it freezes...and these are actual pop ups for I have my popups disabled...but I mean another window!...I watch my task manager and nothing seems unusual...Even updated my BIOS and still the exact same thing every time...I’ve done diagnostics on the LCD and Video, memory and it all checks out...Anyone have any ideas?...The only difference with all three laptops that I have found is the one that freezes has a Radeon 9000 card and the other 2 have a Radeon 7500 reply

Hi, ok, so i’m having the same sort of problem here, iv tried all your techniques including my own... as i am paranoid of viruses, i scan a lot. in the beginning when i got my pc, (just fixed) it came with this same but slightly different problem.
I cant play Any video type on any player nor can i play any games except for online.warcraft plays audio for a bit with a black screen, then restarts the entire PC. it does its freezing thing, on some occasions the audio still plays, but most of the time it just freezes up (All types of Players VLC & K,lite). so i decided to run an anti spyware program and a Anti Virus Program, i scanned it over and over, it picked up some spyware and viruses but all it managed to do is speed up my Pc..... i remember doing a scan with superatispyware and for some reason my problem fixed itself for a bit, it wasnt long and i had the problem again.

funny thing is, i have a gameboy advance emulator that plays fine in normal size but as soon as i enlarge to full screen it freezes....

i read on another site that i should try going to a lower date on my ATI Drivers?... So which should i try and what is the correct process to fix this bug?

Nvidia Radeon 9100

Please could someone help me with this problem? reply

DivX player seems to work for me. I had crashes 100% of the time with BSPlayer and VLC, even after reinstalling windows. NVidia (or was that Microsoft?) claims that AMD processors cause the freeze but it happens with my Intel processor and NVidia card. reply

i noticed, that pc hangs on youtube videos on 11.4 and 11.1 versions of catalyst drivers for hd5450, testing the latest 11.5 now, 10.5 (first driver which appeared after release of hd5450) seemed to work fine on youtube, no hangs, but old game graphics fucked up, like q3, or age of myth. reply

think your computer is trying to use your old graphics driver, roll back to previous driver then uninstall then restart and reinstall new driver

Hey guys!
I have the same problem as you.
My computer runs on Windows 7. I dont really ever had this on my older Windows Xp.
But on this page I found one post http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic42844.html
Try right clicking on “my computer” then “manage” the “event viewer” and see what kind of error reports are being logged. It could give a hint as to what is causing the freeze.

So I found that everytime computer freezes it comes warning with text: LMS Service cannot connect to Intel(R) MEI driver.

I looked for this and found this adress: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/lms-service-cannot-connect-to-intelr-mei-driver/90aa3002-5d6b-4587-9dc4-9dabb621deb8

So guys, try to do what is on that page. Maybe it helps. For now I am going to try to update chipset drivers. If it helps, I will tell you! :) reply

I think it helped-
Just reinstalled driver.
My Computer´-Device Manager- System Devices - Inter(R) Management Engine Interface. Uninstall it, restart computer, install using Intel Chipset drivers or Windows 7 automaticly found drivers. :)
Hope this helps! :) reply

Guys i have a similar problem. My pc crashes when i watch some types of videos. I i done everything mentioned above such as disable hardware acceleration reinstall flash player, the codec pack and no luck. I even reinstalled windows, the 64 bit version (i hade the 32) and still nothing. I figured that there is a problem with the graphicks card driver because it played EVERY video while i was on safe mode and after i unistalled my graphicks card driver. So i have come to the conclusion that it is for sure the graphicks card drivers, i will install an older version(if i find) and i will report back. reply
