Avi files suddenly too dark

Hi,
I don’t know why, but suddenly all my avi -files are totaly dark. I used to watch them in real player and it was just fine.
then today I installed powerdvd (for the dvd rom) and now all my avi-files are in total darkness.
can anyone help?
