winrar won't open .rar files from rapidshare

i’m trying to download a movie from rapidshare, which comes in 8 chunks, each one a .rar file. they download fine with flashget3 (though are smaller than I expected), but winrar won’t open the files once they’re downloaded - it says they’re an unknown format or are corrupted. any ideas why this might be?
