MOV codec

Isn’t .mov the standard extension for Quicktime movies? In that case, wouldn’t it be difficult (impossible) to playback in WMP?

hmm i’m not exactly sure where to find the codec but yeah u can play .mov on windows media player...i apparently have the codec because i can view avi’s on quicktime, and mov’s on wmp. :)
just try searching google, recently through quicktime i download indeo video 5...i dont know if thats why i can view what i can view.... good luck

Windows Media Player can only natively view quicktime files made with (older) cross-container codecs like Cinepak or Indeo (cross-container means they can be embedded either in an AVI or a QuickTime). More recent quicktime movies made with the sorenson/video codec can’t be natively viewed in Windows Media Player. If you still want a Windows-Media-kind sharpness when viewing other quicktime movies I suggest you get quicktime alternative. I searched for a codec to play MOV files in WMP without installing QT and I did find one called 3IVX

Just search for QUICKTIME ALTERNATIVE, it’s a codec pack for playing quicktime movies in other players ;)
