How to open avi.bc! file?

I believe that .bc! means it is incomplete and thats why nothing you try works. On all of these .bc! i have and tried changing the extension and file types and they wont play or they play for about a second then crash. The only thing I can think is that its corrupted or incomplete.

After u get to command prompt type cd(change directory)and ur desired directory(eg.c:\documents and settings\administrator\my documents) and do what he says...

Go into the folder, and go to “tools” at the top of the screen, then go to “folder options”, click the “view” tab at top of window and then look for “hide extensions for known file types”, untick this and click “apply” and then ok.

Now u should see the filename extensions.


Now just rename them to .AVI by deleting the .bc! bit

how can i open an bitlord incomplete file because it’s not downloaded any more it’s almost finished downloading but it’s stoped so i’m interested to open that

I have already tried all that this forum says and still the file does not play with either dvx or media player. I was able to change the file type. and windows recongizes it as media file. But it just wont open with either.

i’ll just say what 3-4 other ppl already has said already but in dept cause some ppl doesnt seam to understand why avi files gets renamed to .bc!

if you were dling from a bt tracker site and it tells you it’s unfinished = everythings BUT 100% then DON’T rename the file extension, doing this will ruin the download, meaning next time you run up your bitcomet or bitlord(= bitcomet but with SPAM) it will start up a new download fom 0% and you will have to wait till download completes or till you get to the place where you once were.... isnt this like obvious kaka? no? ok. I’ll try to explain this in a way _normal_ ppl would understand..

if you were to download files from kazaa eg: a .jpg file and it gets 50% complete then you go into the download directory move out to your desktop and rename the file to the .jpg format so it can be viewed, then by “your” shocking suprice you’re not able to view the image cause its telling you its not a propper image format or you only have the half image showing, the rest is grayed out, now you look again at your kazaa and it tells you some hububb about the file gone missing or that its redownloading it again which is “very odd” right? er no.

next time dont rename the format to .avi doing this might mess up your download, if you wish to view the file either use the prebuilt program thats inside your bitcomet/bitlord or whatever and view the file from there, thats the whole point of its existance anyways, or if that wont do you can always drag-and-drop the file into a player that supports “avi” files.. eg: VLC.

another thing to think about.. dont ever download INCOMPLETE FILES, wether its from dc, kazaa, emule or whatever, if the source is incomplete then how in the ****ing *ell do you think youll be able to get the full file downloaded anyways if the file/source is incomplete? mwell there is a way but i dont wanna give you nabs more headache.

Just changing the file extension will not work.

The file is not a complete file. It is only a partial file from part of a Torrent download.

You CANNOT play this unless you can complete the download. Otherwise, you’ll need to start over.

well i was goin' thru this forum and all i found was people are telling that just renaming .avi.bc! to .avi and opening wid vlc media player will do the work , all i want to say is did u write it after trying it out urself????????
It just won’t work , i have been using bit torrent for quite sometime and i am pretty sure it doesn’t.
I remember that once i had downloaded some videos and the download was 99.5% complete and didn’t resume , at that time i could play those files with vlc media player and it worked quite well playing it till the last kb.
And it played it without even removing .bc! extension. So either i think u need to download an appreciable amount of the file like 90% or more to preview it or else find some other solution!!!!
I hope after reading this we get some new solutions and not the same old theory of removing .bc! extension again and again.

Didn’t anyone read Katana’s message? Continue the download until completion or delete it and find another. BC! means incomplete/corrupt/doesn’t matter what you change the extension to it won’t work.

heres the deali-o i had the same problem , finished d/l movie in bitlord and all the files came up as .bc!, i re-opened the task in bitlord “task complete” or whatever it said, went back to download folder and it must have completed the other 1% because they all changed to RAR files, sweet - try to download the same thing again, might fix it!

i try to copy using windows prompt, but still cannot
i said the clip cannot be played
it contains unexpected data and may be corrupt.

Looks like bc! is used by bit comet when a file is incomplete while it is downloading.

It can’t be renamed because it is most likely in use by bit comet.

Once the download is finished BC will automatically remove the extension.

BitComet Incomplete Download
BitComet is a p2p file-sharing program fully compatible with Bittorrent. The .BC! extension is an incomplete download and you should not try to open this file. This also applies to BitLord. When the download is complete the .BC! extension should change to whatever the correct file extension should be for the complete download.

I did delete the .BC! and the file will play but it is fragmented. It will skip mins ahead and if you try and place it inbetween the tiems of the skip it just skips ahead again. So changing deleting the file extention didn’t work
