I think that the program that comes with it is a little lacking and slow, but once it has been converted and used in Premiere, what is the best format to use in the export?

I found that if u use the program that it came with and in premiere pro resize it so it is almost the same size as the screen, then export as quicktime file, its okay quality.

Here is a simple solution to those pesky .mod files: simply rename the .mod extension to .avi extension.
Problem solved!

i just want to be able to have my video play on windows media and quick time ( preferably both ) , so that i can burn cds ( or dvd’s ) for friends and family and be able to have them play . along with moving clips to my pda ( blackberry ) to show.
the JVC quality is good ( as far as video cameras goes ) , the ability to play your video is the problem , there power director software sucks , and using it to convert is awful , and there tech support is worse.......
why do i have to buy software to view my video , it is like buying tires and having to pay for air for them.
i have a $80 helmet cam from Oregon Scientific , that works beautifully , no fuss....that is what i want from my JVC....

I use free mpeg streamclip to convert to .dv http://www.squared5.com/. I understand converting effects quality but when I used the “change file extension” method, I would get a lot of red {dropped} frames in premiere.

As we know, Adobe PremierePro 2.0 based upon Macintosh and Windows (platform) is fabulous non-linear editing software. It is integrated heavily with Adobe After Effects, an industry-standard for motion graphics and compositing. With it, people can edit any videos such as HD, SD and DV in real time. But, recently, I’ve often met such a question asked by many users online like “I have dozens of MOD files that I’d like to import them to After Effects nor Premiere for editing, but it is impossible.” What’s up? It turned out to be that .MOD is a weird video format which can not directly read by most editing software or media players. Owing to obsolete version of Premiere those people used or incorrect OS, they can not import .MOD to Premiere any longer. To help these people out, I’ve tried every means to look for a really effective way.
The best solution I found is to use Moyea MOD Converter. As Premiere Pro is compatible with MPEG, this converter will definitely help convert MOD to MPEG, MPG and AVI,etc.

You gentlemen seem to be very in the know on PowerDirector8
and other video stuff.

Imported .avi files to PD8. Video is fine but no audio.
Audio plays fine in other programs, but not PD8.

What am I doing wrong..................

Tried uploading direct from camera and to computer that to
PD8 with not audio.

Magix Movie edit pro 15 plus reads mod files natively.
Cheap to buy and look at the tutorials at youtube.

Hi there:
How to edit and convert JVC MOD files? Let me take Adobe Premiere, a piece of professional editing software, as an example. By the way, Adobe Premiere supports many video and audio formats, including MPEG, MOV, AIF, AVI, WAV, WMA, and SDI. But it is not perfectly compatible with MOD.

The following tutorial is for your reference:
Step one: Transfer JVC MOD files to the computer.
Make sure that your camcorder is on, plug your JVC Camcorder into PC and copy them to the hard drive of your computer.
Step two: Free download and install Moyea MOD Converter
Step three: Load JVC MOD files
Click “Add” icon to import your MOD files to this software, locate the output video or audio format, and the destination file path. For example, be sure that the output video format is MOV or AVI if you want to import the files to Adobe Premiere.
Step four: Edit JVC MOD files
For making the output video much better, you can click “Edit” icon to edit your MOD videos like trimming, cropping, adding watermark, Effects, etc fast and easily. For instance, you can remove the unwanted parts of black region by using “crop” button.
Step Five: Convert JVC MOD files and then import them to Adobe Premiere for meticulous editing
Hit “Convert” icon to launch the conversion.
The conversion process will be completed in a few minutes. Then you can import them to Adobe Premiere for editing.

By the way, if you want to share these file with your family by playback these videos on Apple TV, you can select “Apple TV H.264 Excellent (*.mp4) as output format before the conversion.

Best wishes!
