I found the easiest solution was to rename the file extension .mpg and then the file will play on almost all players. Conversion of the files by means of software is unnecessary. You might have to go into Tools, Folder Options, View and uncheck “hide file extensions” in Windows Explorer or My Computer in order to be able to do that.

I am trying to upload a video that I recorded on my everio to myspace and I can’t because of the MOD format. Anybody know how to fix this??
I came across this problem several weeks ago. My friends told me a guide of how to convert MOD format to popular formats like AVI, WMV, MPEG, MKV, MOV or others. It worked out. I can easily get the MOD fromat to MOV for uploading YouTube now.

Reply to Chicky100,
I tried that and I still can’t open it up on Windows Movie Maker. Were you able to? This is really frustrating me, because every freeware program i’ve tried either wont convert the whole video, and/or leaves crappy quality. This is my first time using the camcorder. It’s a JVC Everio GZ-MS120u. I want to edit these videos, but not with this quality. The camera quality is amazing, the converters are ruining it. luckily i have all the files backed up. I’ll try out Sony Vegas but after that I give up
Ok hey guys i have been through this problem as well and this is the best thing that i have come across so far the converter is called (Any Video Converter (AVC)) try it out i found it to be pretty good...
Here to help Kiwi boy
I purchased a JVC HD Everio. I love it and I’m still working things out. My only problem is that my daughter recorded video in portrait with the camera turned on its side which is great for getting a person in without too much background but I dont want to watch the video sideways so does anybody know how I can change it so it can be viewed in the landscape mode?
If you want to convert these .MOD files into usable files (avi, mpg, wmv) for any editing software. While maintaing high quality & sound. You just need a HD Camcorder Video Converter, Pavtube HD Video Converter is worth trying.
I came across a guide on
“Convert JVC Everio MTS/MOD/TOD footages to editable format with flawless quality " You can check :
How do we record video cpteurad on JVC digital video camera? My mother purchased a JVC GR-D370U digital video camera that records onto mini digital cassettes. She has watched the videos playback via av plugs to the television but is wishing to upload video to her pc. She can connect the usb plug to the pc and capture the still images saved to the memory card, but she is unable to capture or even locate the digital video. I’ve searched on the jvc site and found a dv (digital video) cable. I assume this may be needed to transfer the video. Can someone out there help us out? Thanks a bunch.
I down load my video thougth my dvd recorder, also can edit that way and cut etc.... once on disk I believe you could upload to web with no problem,,, Hd are not only Mov but also I believe .tod files too.... I can upload to computor using the disk that came with camera and download to disk, making the ones i want, is way faster than editing each one, and is very fast so you can download to a computors dvd/cd recorder and than upload to web/or send where ever.... there are some very good programs that do this....
