So, it seems that todays current DVD players may not all be able to play MP3 DVD’s.
The next thing to try is a DVD only half filled with MP3’s, since the problem could be with too many files for the player to register..just a guess. Anyone else with some ideas on why this happens?

have you tried making DVD movies that play on your DVD player? the little I have read, certain DVD media is very picky with DVD players....DVD-R or DVD+R, I forget, but one of the versions is not very compatible with some DVD players, so it might be the media itself that’s the problem, not the data on the DVD. reply

different variation on the subject.

Is there a sub 500 dollar car stereo out there that can play mp3 files off a dvd?.....an amp section is not needed in my case, just three preouts (one for sub) fm/am and I don’t care to play video of any kind so basicly i want to find a head unit that has a dvd player built in instead of the standard cd player, that can read mp3’s off dvd.

Every song i care to listen too will fit on one dvd but it takes 4 or 5 cd’s. reply

No really...I am not using a CD Player...as my post says, I am using a Panasonic DVD player to try and play back the MP3’s I burnt on a DVD-R disc. My DVD player will play MP3’s on a CD-R but not MP3’s on DVD-R and this is what all the other posts on this thread is about...no one has an answer it seems. reply

I found out JVC has a couple of head units that can do what i want...they call it “Giga MP3” technology, not sure if thats a standard name though?
The KD-AVX1 is 600 bucks but it actually has a 3” lcd display on it for watching dvd’s.....the other one is th KD-DV5100 and it has no display and is in my price range at 300 dollars, however it only has one set of preouts which complicates installation for me :(

Goland Audio DVD Creator 1.9.0.0
Music DVD Creator v1.0

These are program which convert mp3 to dvd-audio files which can be played in every home dvd player or pc dvd player.

Of course you can burn the mp3 to data-dvd and maybe your home dvd player can read mp3, but since a lot of mp3 are gathered illegally round the web you can end up with lots of differences in audio loudness forcing you to push the volume button endlessly.

With the programs mentioned you can add a wallpaper so you can watch tv with a different picture with every other song.

Id recommend a dvd home cinema set: your dvd player is connected to your receiver then, so you always have audio even when the tv is off.
The only advantage of burning mp3 to audio dvd is that you can store a lot of music on 1 dvd (but not as much as on a plane mp3 data dvd disk) and that the audio level of the individual files is balanced.

TIP: search edonkey for those files or try to find a freeware version of it. reply

I burned 2 DVDs with Nero 1 a DVD -R and one a DVD +R using the mp3 burner that comes with Nero. Although my DVD players are supposed to be mp3 compatiable neither works and a Read Failure shows on the DVD screen. With the TV on it reads DVD cannot read this type of disk try another. I don’t know if I am, burning as data or music as Nero doesn’t reveal that infornmation. I will try cd next but I cannot understand why these DVD players (both Panasonic)won’t read the disks. Any ideas??? reply

If you have burned your mp3’s to an audio disk like the ones you can buy in stores but not on cdrom but on dvd, you should know that not all dvd players can play audio dvd’s. Check your manual. I suppose the only 100% always working solution is to convert your mp3 to dvd audio only. So infact a dvdmovie is being created, but whithout the seeing part, just the noise. Any dvdplayer should be able to play that. See previous post what programs to use. Even gave you guys a tip on how to obtain them. Tssk. reply

"3. to play an mp3 dvd you need something that can play mp3’s and read dvd’s. some dvd players play mp3’s and most of them will play mp3’s off a dvd disc no problem”

Uh, wrong. This dude thinks he knows it all. Last time I checked, very FEW DVD players will play MP3’s from DVD even if they play them from CD. Mine included.

Figures he THINKS he’s huge...idiot.

Do some research, losers, before spouting off. reply

Hi folks,

I purchased an Apex 1500 standalone DVD player based on research from the web. It plays my DVD-R disc with MP3s fine.

I have the files sorted into folders with no more than 99 files per folder. I don’t know if this is relevant to the Apex but I got into the habit from burning CD’s for my old Genica Mp3 cd player.

Bottom line for me - I have a standalone DVD player (Apex 1500) which can read MP3 DVDs.

If it were not for the skipping issue, I’d permanently install it in my car with a power inverter to hear music while I drive.

Hope this helps you folks out there.
