With AVI files you need to convert them first into mpeg format, so you can get picture, try using VSO ConvertXtoDVD.

ID what you got, what type of file is it
you can use a program called gspot to do this
when you know what you got then you can work out how to burn to a DVD
Tama,
Have you tried this - gspot to burn vlc files before? Vlc file just like VCD or SVCD file, it ends with .DAT.
Please help

VLC file
I tried AVS Video Converter, Nero, Ulead Media Studio Pro 6.5, Avex, DVDDecrypter, Wizardcopy3, DVD Cloner 4, WMP Recorder etc., any most known programs out there, but no such luck.
Any more programs?

@Ninja
gspot wont burn the files for you
it will ID the file for you, it tells you what kind of file it is
then you can work out how to convert and burn from there
@era
dvdshrink dosnt burn to disks it uses either Nero to do the burning part. dvdshrink just does the transcoding.
install nero if you have it, if you dont have nero dvdshrink can use dvddecrypter as well to burn or theres a version of dvdshrink that can use imgburn to do the burning.
In VLC, goto File > Wizard...
Select “Transcode/Save To File..."
Select File you want to convert (must play in VLC)
Click Next >
Check “Transcode Video” and select MPEG-2 Video at 1024kb/s
Check “Transcode Audio” and select MPEG Audio at 192 kb/s
Click Next >
Select MPEG-1
Click Next >
Save to your new file name with extension .mpg
Now you can open this file in eg Nero VCD creator, Windows Movie Maker, Click to DVD etc. Burn a Video disc normally.
Not very efficient but works.
