Burnt DVD but home dvd player won't play it?

Hi guys :)

So I downloaded a movie torrent, and burnt it onto a DVD like I normally do, but when I pop it into my home DVD player to watch it, it says “CODEC or resolution is not supported”

If anyone can help me with this, it would be most appreciated. I’ve downloaded, burnt and watched torrent movies in this player hundreds of times, but this one doesn’t seem to work. It’s an AVI file.
