Thanks TeKsupp0rt gUy - registering that codec w/regsvr32.exe did the trick! You are truly a genius.

Olly wrote: for me it all boiled down to this, downloading the xvid codec.

i had problems veiwing the actually picture of my film, i could only hear the sound.
i used the GSPOT program that “TeKsuppOrt Guy” kindly uploaded and discovered that in all 3 cases, it was mearly the Xvid codec missing.

bellow is a link to the website i downloaded my codec from, now all videos play perfectly.

http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/

hope that helps

worked perfectly, cheers! smiley

why dont you just download it again using torrents from www.isohunt.com ?

if both of you have the same file, and both does not work then its obviously a corrupted file put there to be spread.

I had a message when I typed in this:- regsvr32.exe l3codecx.ax, in run.

It came up saying “l3codec.ax is not an executable file and no registration helper is registered for this file” I got the file from a backup in the System 32 folder called L3CODECX.AX_

Hi Olly
Thanks for that. You answered and allowed me to rectify in one short posting, a problem I’ve been chasing a workable solution to for months.
Kindest regards
