OK MAC USERS. here’s what you do.
search on Google for FFMPEG. Download. (its free)
enter the correct site and download the program plus any plugins they suggest as YOU WILL NEED THESE.
once downloded install all parts.

FFmpeg is the most useful piece of software you will ever have.
with this software you can convert and movie file from one format to another, which means you may rip an AVI file but want to watch it on your IPOD or ITOUCH but cant because its the wrong file type. FFMPEG will convert the avi to MPEG4 which is the correct file type and size for your IPOD.. or maybe you like your AVI movie so much you want to burn it to a DVD. FFMPEG will convert your Movie to MPEG2. (DVD format) ready for burning.
not only that i used it to solve the problem of no audio and avi movie.
heres how.

1. open FFMEG.
2.drag avi movie into FFMEG.
3. open the drop down box in the target format section and select MP3.
4. click ENCODE and wait a few mins. (util the new window show FINNISHED)
5. find the new MP3 File which should be with the AVI movie.
6. Double click and itunes will open. (press play to see if it works)
7. Go back to FFMPEG drop down the same box and select IPOD h264 640w.
8. click encode as before. wait about 15 mins untill new window shows FINNISHED.
9. open Garage Band. (The Guitar Icon) and start new project.
10. import the MP3 file into Garage Band.
11. import the new mp4 movie into Garage band.
12. Make sure that to parts are lined up together and press play.
13. you should hear both sound and see video in sync.
14. click share / send movie to itunes.
15. once done go to itunes and watch movie. PROBLEM SOLVED.

this whole process should take no longer than 45mins.

Hope this helps all the Mac users in the world.

Olly wrote: for me it all boiled down to this, downloading the xvid codec.

i had problems veiwing the actually picture of my film, i could only hear the sound.
i used the GSPOT program that “TeKsuppOrt Guy” kindly uploaded and discovered that in all 3 cases, it was mearly the Xvid codec missing.

bellow is a link to the website i downloaded my codec from, now all videos play perfectly.

http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/

hope that helps
