g-spot detects audio codec, but can't render the file

hey,
so my problem is that when i try playing movies in media player, it won’t open them, because the file is not supported. and when i run the movies through g-spot it tells me my video codecs are alright, and my audio codecs as well (meaning it detected a codec that could decompress the audio-part of the file) but when it tries rendering the file i get an error, called 0x80040265.
any idea what this is.
by the way, .mpeg files work fine and the problem only emerged 2 weeks ago.
and yeah, that’s about it, if anyone knows what the problem is, please help smiley

hey having the same trouble with wmplayer, divxplayer not playing all my avi files that played fine last week, Gspot says codecs A-ok and get same error message from rendering: 0x80040265:
any ideas?
