Problem with Classic Media Player

posted in Video Codecs

hello all. i’m a newbie and need help.

i have downloaded a video clip in zip form. unzipping it, and the video is a .3gp file with a RealPlayer tag.

however, when i try to open the file with the Classic Media Player, i get the follwing error message:
Media Type 0:
Video: MPEG4 Video 176x144

majortype: MEDIATYPE_Video {73646976-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71}
subtype: Unknown GUID Name {7634706D-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71}
formattype: FORMAT_MPEG2_VIDEO {E06D80E3-DB46-11CF-B4D1-00805F6CBBEA}
bFixedSizeSamples: 1
bTemporalCompression: 0
lSampleSize: 1
cbFormat: 180
i understand that some codes are missing and i need to have them. but 2 questions:

1. why are these things missing and not included in the player when i downloaded it first?

2.where can i get the missing codes or codecs?

thank u all for your help... reply

I had both W Player 11 and classic version on my pc until I had a major problem; after my IT guy had fixed it I no longer see Classic available AND I no longer get the dialog box asking me if I want to make disk or whatever as it used to............any ideas what I can do to recover both? Or, where I will “find” them? reply
