Need to recover video recorded on a DVR unit that no longer works.

ADVERTISEMENTS

Hello All,
I have a DVR record unit that no longer works. The harddrive is OK and I can connect it to my PC, but cannot view contents. Is there a codec/software I can use to view these video files? I am NOT trying to reproduce these files, just view them to retrieve important info. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. reply

Hi,GLORP

Sorry for this really late reply. Hope I won’t interrupt anything. In your case you could not view the video files, you mean you can’t access the videos in the hard drive? There is a possibility that your recorder hard drive is corrupted because of corruption or other unknown reasons.

I think you can rely on a video recovery program to see if you can retrieve some from the recorder. Try this one and see?

Take the hard drive out of the recorder and connect it to your computer to perform recovery. But you should remember - the more you use your hard drive, the less likely you may be able to recover the files back! So STOP using the drive ASAP. Regards. reply

The HDD insides your video recorder maybe corrupted, take this data recovery tool to retreive the video files firstly. And then reforamt the drive to NTFS. It should work well again. reply
