Can't get Windows Movie Maker to play video only audio

posted in Video Codecs

Hi I installed the k-light mega pack of codecs because I was trying to upload my homemade videos to windows movie maker. Windows Movie Maker was just playing the audio so I did some research and started looking for a codec. I have windows 8 (I think) and I also installed Freemake Video Converter in hopes that it would play my videos. BUT IT DOESN’T! It doesn’t even register that they are there. After I installed the k-light codecs pack windows media player plays the videos, but it doesn’t show thumbnails for each video. It just has the generic picture that says MPEG. Which is the only thing that has given me a clue as to what type of file it is. Because when I clicked on it’s properties it didn’t say. I’m lost. I don’t know what to do next. Neither Windows Movie Maker or Freemake Video are reading my videos. Am I still missing a codec? Or is it something else? I just want to edit my videos. reply
