My problem was when avi film wasn’t worked. I’ve considered many things, but it turned out that the film was fake. Everytime when I tried to play it , it turned me to site when the virus wanted to download on my computer..So don’t trust torrents ..!!
i m on a resticted pc with limited access.. i cant install a thing as i dunn have administartive priviliges... can any one tell hoe i can just jownload the player files which are not installable but infact drop n play type files
I think they’ve made their new codecs proprietary. It sucks.
You’ll have no problem on playing them on their stupid DivX player and maybe VLC or WMP, but not on ANY OTHER media player, even if you have the file associated with it, where before version 7, there was never any problem.
Or get used to their new player. An older codec would probably fix it but they’re hard to find.
I might try VLC but it likes to make everything it’s default.
Actually, the DivX player doesn’t look so bad when you get rid of all the crap on each side and just see a screen.
I downloaded a torrent movie file In .avi format. When i tried to play it on VLC media player , It just displays Use Windows Player. When i played it using Windows Media Player, it showed an error and a web page automatically opens with an option to download the codecs for windows media player. When i download that and i tried to install it also tells and show some error.
I Have a dell studio laptop with Windows 7 install on it. Few weeks ago sudently I couldn’t watch any videos on any browsers installed on my laptop (Explorer, Firefox, Chrome). When I open a page that contains a video the page don’t respond anymore. I checked that I had the lastest version of adobe flashplayer and adobe shockwave player, to be certain I redownloaded them. The videos still couln’t work. So I started to search for some answers on the internet but I couldn’t find any. So I lunch a system restore and all went back to normal. Few weeks later the same problem appends so I did a system restore again. At this point I tought it was a problem with the windows update but when after the system restore I reinstall the updates the problem didn’t show off. Finally today I was watching a video on my laptop (not on the internet) and the player crashed. I went on youtube to see if I could watch videos and gest what I can’t. I can’t even see the ads that shows up in the yahoo homepage. I ready the make an other system restore but I want to get rid of this problem once and for all!!!! CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME
The file IS NOT FAKE. Dozens of comments of it being watchable. This happen with avi files over 1 GB. On my Apple ibook, it shows up as a document type, and therefore VLC won’t even consider playing it.
This isn’t going to be helpful except that it might dave some people some time: The web is thickly populated with messages from people who confidently proclaim that they have the solution to this problem - but they don’t. Don’t waste your time, as I have just done, downloading and installing program after program after program, in hopes that this latest piece of advice is going to work. The fact is that no one knows how to solve this problem - or if anyone does, then he doesn’t care enough to tell you.
I have the same problem as iAmSam, sound only, no picture. This is a new problem because I have watched some AVI movies repeatedly with no problem but now these same films will only play sound.
I tried resetting Real Player (through Help option) and noticed that in Media Options, AVI was not “ticked”. i ticked it but the tick does not hold because if you retrace your steps and reset again the Media Option for AVI is not ticked once again. This looks like a definite problem.
Any ideas guys?
