I don’t know if movie maker 6.0 in win 7/64 is a 64-bit app or a 32-bit one.
if it’s 32-bit, get ffdshow-tryouts
if it’s 64-bit, get the 64-bit version of ffdshow-tryouts
(pick the most recent I guess)
be sure to check vfw during install
if you KNOW the codec of the video you need to decode, disable everything else (since you don’t need it), and enable only that codec upon install.
then in movie maker, go to tools, options, compatibility, make sure ffdshow is checked.
Hi all, I have the problem that a lot of people have with Windows Movie Maker 6.0, where I import an AVI file into the maker and it is imported as sound only, not the video part. I have been searching all over for a codec for this movie maker, but have only found them for Windows Vista. I have a 64 bit version of Windows 7, and would appreciate it if anyone could shed some light on this problem and be able to find a good solution for anyone with Windows 7 Because at the moment, I am having to convert the files online to WMV then downloading the converted files back onto my computer every time I need a video. The videos I use are all in AVI format, and I am making a music video, so I’m sure you can understand how frustrating it is to be converting and downloading videos every second. Thank you for your help :)
