You can find a solution of the issue by typing “Easy Way to Add Subtitle SRT to AVI, ASS to AVI, SSA to AVI, IDX to AVI, SUB to AVI” in Google.

if you are using VLC media player, make one folder for AVI and SRT with the same file name. Then, play the folder using VLC media player. You can find it from the files of sam and juggs. reply

Had the same problem and discovered the solution. SRT files are merely text files with timing parameters. VLC doesn’t know to open them, yet. You must first right click then “open with” vlc.exe. You may have to browse for the vlc folder and find the vlc.exe file. When you open with, usually, the program which will appear is notepad, it needs to open with vlc.exe. then you can go to the menu and choose the subtitle tab and load the title 1. This is what I did in windows, I’m sure there is something similar in Mac reply
