For a view of how long it takes me to burn one using Vista, see this this
It’s an undoctored screencap of Vista in action...
Apparently 43,089 days is longer than you can expect to spin a DVD as you burn one. It never did finish, and I expect it would still be trying if it were not for the fact that we had a power failure long enough to drain my laptop.
If you want to send me your computer I can probably cut that time in half. Box it up and put it in your front yard, and I’ll send a UPS driver to get it. What’s your address?

It takes me 4 hours to burn a dvd. Here is the breakdown:
3 hours to download the movie.
1 hour to encode and burn at x4.
I think your question should have been a bit more precise. Burning the disc, physically, takes 10-15min or less depending on the system. Some people include encoding time... and, which adds time... depending on the cpu and memory. This also depends on the quality of the dvd. Is it SD or HD? SD will take significantly less time. Less data :P
Core i7-870 for $289
Asus P7P55DE-PRO $179
GSkill F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH x4GB $120
shit... cant belive takes so long to change avi to vob using superdvd creator.. i actually dowloaded three different types of conversion software thinking i was doing something wrong... the time it take bout an 1hr 20... unbelievable- would be great if dvd players read like computers and no conversion was needed.. wonder if the smart tvs have realplayer etc on them.... 2011 and more time to make a disc than a watch the movie.. thats crappy.. best ditch the dvd and run an hdmi cable from laptop to tv... much faster viewing direct from laptop....
