Hi! Need some help here. I am having a toshiba satellite M30 notebook running windows xp pro and window media player 10. I can display the avi files simulataneously on notebook screen and projector but not wmv files. These just shows on my notebook and the projector only display the skins but not the pictures. What do I miss out?
I used to fiddle with those things too and I had similar results running dxdiag.exe (DirectX diagnostics). A wild guess is DirectDraw can only be applied to a single device at the time (I believe most AVI’s use VFW (Video for Windows) instead of DirectShow, that’s why you don’t have that problem).
If you have Windows Media Player 8 (XP), 9, or 10, you can disable hardware acceleration temporarily by going to tools, options and move the video acceleration tab to the left to none. (This usually takes a hit on performance, so be sure to pull it back to full when you’re done).
If you have an earlier version of Windows Media Player, you’ll have to disable hardware acceleration globally. Right click anywhere on your desktop, choose properties. Go to settings, click advanced, then choose the troubleshoot tab and pull the tab all the way to the left. As above, when done pull it back to the right.
