my avi movies doesnt work and it says i need a codec so i downloaded cineak codec but im having troble installing it . i hav no idea how to :
a. Open up the Control Panel application and invoke the Drivers
applet.

b. From the Drivers applet’s main window select the Add...
pushbutton.

c. In the Add dialog box which then appears choose the selection
“Unlisted or Updated Driver” from the List of Drivers listbox.

d. In the Install Driver dialog box which then appears enter
either A:\ or B:\ in the edit field, depending on which drive
you have inserted the Cinepak diskette. Press OK.

e. In the Add Unlisted or Updated Driver dialog box which should
then appear, you should see the following entries:

Cinepak Codec by Radius

Select it and press OK.

f. The Cinepak Codec will be copied into your Windows system
subdirectory and its installation should then be complete.

Use the G-Spot tool for determining what codecs your avi file needs, and what ones you have installed. Free download available at: http://www.weethet.nl/english/video_which_codecs_gspot.php
Then go and find the codec if you need one from your favourite search engine. :)

Thnx a ton mate... it worked miracles for me... GOD Bless!!

1) uncheck the folder option “Hide protected operating system files”

2) find the thumbs.db file in the folder and delete it

3) restart torrent and wait a couple of secs

4) enjoy the movie reply

I’ve downloaded several motion-image files that are avi files. I try to run them through Windows Media Player and get this error: CODEC Error: Use Windows Media Player. The first 9 or so seconds of the film plays and then it stops. I noticed http://freaktorrents.info/locked/17?embedded=false appeared at the top of the monitor in a window the file was then connected to. I’ve downloaded MULTIPLE freeware software converters and nothing works. I’ve had this same problem with 4 similar large media files on 2 PC laptops. I’ve also re-downloaded one of the files only to still encounter this issue. The only success I had was with a 28 part Prizm film I pulled thru RAR, and was able to view that -- all of these AVI files take forever to download and aren’t working -- what am I missing? Many thanks for your clear, knowledgeable help! reply

I downloaded an Xvid rip of a movie from a bit torrent site. I’m not sure how to use it. It has a bunch of files that seem to need unzipping, they have winRAR icon. It says they’re .AVI files. I’m trying to unzip them but its going to take forever. Its a rather large download. I already have the divx codec and it works with the sample. How do I get this movie to play?
