To clarify again:

THM FILES ARE THUMBNAIL PICTURES OF YOUR VIDEO, IT IS NOT THE ACTUAL VIDEO.

Your actual video would be in the format of .mp4 .avi .mpeg2 or some other video format, take your pic, BUT NOT .THM.

If you can’t find the actual video then it’s your fault, don’t be stupid and try to convert or rename the .thm files. reply

I have some avi files along with their accompanying thm files. I can play the avi files, but there’s no sound. What do I use to view the thm files, which probably have the sound on them?
Windows Media Player didn’t work. reply

THM files DO NOT CONTAIN VIDEO - that’s in a .avi / .mp4 / .mov file

The .THM files contains metadata for some editing programs to use, there’s no video or audio in them. So, there is NOTHING to convert in them reply

A thm file is just a snapshot picture extracted from the video. Some applications associate them nicely with the corresponding video file. but windows explorer doesn’t. mspaint.exe can open it if you right click on the thm file & select open with... then browse to mspaint (normally in windows\system32 folder reply

I have had problems uploading my Canon Videos to their gateway site. The helpdesk said to upload both the AVI file and the THM file so the video would load. I get to 1 second before the end of the upload and it stops! Again the helpdesk said they must be in the same folder (which they were) but I am blessed if I can get them uploaded. Single picture files no problem. If any one can advise please reply to me.....
Thank you JB reply

The layer organization in this PSD makes me sad. No atntteion to details at all. Stuff in wrong folders. Layers ordered illogically. Some layers not named. This could be useful if you don’t mind spending a few minutes cleaning it up. Even then, it’s probably easier (and cleaner) to build this from scratch yourself. reply

Please calm down. Enough of your capital letters and your making people feel ridiculous because they’re asking for solutions to their problems, not to be blamed because they don’t know everything you do know. reply

In case anybody’s .thm files are deleted or missing, there is a way to re-create them:

As it turns out, the extra data associated with the .THM files do not seem to be specific. I think the extra data gets lost when copying file from Camera SD to PC. The file number seems to be what needs to match. So, I needed to get an THM file back that would work with a corresponding .AVI. Here is what I did. I had a MVI_1234.avi file and a corrupt MVI_1234.thm file on the SD card. I placed SD card in camera and took a short 1 second video. A new .avi and .thm were created (MVI_1235.avi and MVI_1235.thm). I presume that the new .thm has all the extra data as it was created by the camera. I then deleted MVI_1234.thm and renamed MVI_1235.thm to MVI_1234.thm effectively replacing a corrupt file with a good one. This appeared to have solved the problem as the undefined image error is no longer displayed. reply
