This is becuase your acnhging the files extension, for example if the file is labelledpicture.jpg you can rename it to whatever you want but you must leave the .jpg in place so Windows knows which application to use to change the file.Your other option is to set Windows not to show file types, to do thisWindows 7 and Vista â Open computer and select organize â folder and search options â view and under the section Files and folders make sure Hide extensions for known file types is ticked, then you can change file names without having to worry about the extension. reply

I downloaded a season of a certain tv series and ALL the files are in MP4 Format , and none open ! ... only one does and the sound disappears after a while , and the video doesn’t play on smoothly either . The VLC Player is unable to open the other MP4 files . GOM PLayer and Windows Media Player have also been useless so far .

Downloaded the codec suggested by Kentavros Pilievs : http://codecs.necromancers.ru/download/XviD-1.0.2-29082004.exe

which was supposed to help open MP4 files in WMP , but it hasn’t helped either .

Going nuts . Please help . :| reply
