MKV conversion advice

posted in File Types

I’m a newbie and my new Smart TV from Panisonic is not so smart. While the ads say it will play MKV files, it will not play the majority of the MKV files I have. After doing a little research, it turns out that my MKV files are not using a supported codec. I’ve converted a few to MP4 with some success. I don’t want to lose any quality but also do not want to spend hours converting.

The TV supports MKV with H.264/MPEG1/MPEG2. Most of my MKV files are using MPEG4.

Please let me know what the best way to convert my files so my TV can read them. Do I leave them as MKV and just change the codec to MPEG1 or MPEG2? Is that even possible?

The converter allows for Nvidia CUDA; should I use that to help the conversion process?

I am using AVC. Are there specific settings I should use with Anyconverter?

Thanks in advance for any help or guidence you can provide.
