God help us, you read it all and managed to do it all backwards...full points for effort though.

Easiest way to do it is extract the mdf files with isobuster and then burn the resulting ISO file as an 'image' (this is very very important, an ISO file actually specifies where to burn what into the CD). You can use nero to do this.

I’d hate to jump on the bandwagon of questions, but I do have an honest query. I have read all pages and all posts. I have four mdf files and four mds files. I understand how to mount them using daemon tools, but would prefer not to.

So, if I am able to convert the .mdf files to .iso files, my next step is to burn them as images using Nero.

But, what do I do with the .mds files that are smallish? Do they get thrown on the disc with the .iso’s, or need they be converted as well. All of the posts adressed .mdf’s, but not one of them really covered what to do witht he accompanying .mds files.

Any help would be appreciated,

So, in doing further research, it appears that a .mds file is instructional in telling a program (Alcohol 120%) in which way to burn the .mdf to a disc as an .iso... So, if both files are in the same directory, it can be assumed that when converting file extensions, one can select the .mds file (which should tell A120% to burn the .mdf file) and all should be smooth sailing. I will post further findings later, when I am able to convert my .mdf files to .iso’s, and attempt this course of action.

You can use the latest version of WinRAR to open .mdf files... I thought I was stuck when I downloaded a 2Gb Cubase archive because I don’t have a DVD writer, but I opened WinRAR (Download @ http://www.winrar.com/), selected File - Open, and changed to 'All Files', and just selected the .mdf file, and it unzipped it. Safe, redcoza. reply

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I have burned a mdf and everything turns out fine. But when I go and try to run the program on the new cd copy it tells me that it’s 'not a valid win32 application'.

Program used: Alcohol 120%
format: SafeDisc
Method: RAW DAO

Thanks

ps: the program works fine when I just mount it with alcohol 120% reply

I’ve read every single thread uptill mine. So far, everyone is asking small questions that makes the answer even more confusing.

What I want to find out is..:

How can you run .mdf file?

If you have to convert it into .iso format, how would you do that.

If you do convert the .mdf file to .iso, what do you after that? Can you run .iso and play the game?

Once you burn the .iso into the CD, is there anything else you need to do so you can actually play the game??

I know most of these questions have already been answered. But since it’s all over the place, it’s super confusing for people to understand what to do. So I’ve pretend that I haven’t read the previous thread and be dumb so I can get one straight answer.

Thanks so much! reply

I used ISOBUSTER to expand a MDF file. Its a free download.
After starting Isobuster, type the name of the MDF file to open. Isbuster will expand the MDF image file.
